Injection therapy combines natural medicine with Western know-how and the theories behind Chinese medicine to offer innovative and effective treatments for our patients. There are a wide variety of uses for injection therapy in the clinic, which involves the injection of natural substances to provide pain relief, promote healing, and reduce inflammation.
At BodaHealth, we offer the following injection treatments:
Hyaluronic Acid Injections
Naturally found in your body, hyaluronic acid plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of your connective tissue. It’s found in your ligaments, tendons, fascia, and the net-like structure that keeps your skin looking elastic and supple. Hyaluronic acid also plays an important role in your joint health, as it’s a component of the synovial fluid that lubricates and cushions your joints. As you get older, you produce less hyaluronic acid, and your joints pay a price. They don’t move as freely, and your ligaments and tendons can become tight and more prone to injury.
Both research studies and clinical experience have shown that injecting hyaluronic acid can be effective in the treatment of joint, tendon, and ligament conditions. At BodaHealth, we have found that it can be particularly useful in treating patients with osteoarthritis, tendonitis, and joint injuries.
Perineural Injection Treatment (PIT)
Perineural injection treatments (PIT) involve the injection of the natural substance D5W just beneath the surface of your skin. D5W is a solution of sterilized water combined with 5% dextrose, which is a kind of sugar, and is commonly used as an IV replacement fluid in medical settings. When it’s injected superficially, it can help calm down nerve related pain, such as entrapments (pinched nerves), inflammation, injuries, sprains, and muscle strains. At BodaHealth, we have found that PIT is a good choice for patients who are having pain of unknown origins or that has not responded to other treatments.
PIT involves a number of small injections, with very thin needles, just under the skin of the affected or painful area. The results are noticed fairly quickly, and you will know after your first session if PIT is the right treatment for you. In some instances, the location of the injections may have to be adjusted.
Acupuncture Injection Treatment (AIT)
Combining injection therapy with acupuncture points is the foundation of AIT. It targets painful points on your body, known in Chinese medicine as ashi points. They may be knots, or tight bands of muscle and can be caused by injury, strained muscles, overuse, poor posture, and even stress. These areas can become worse over time, causing pain and loss of function. Ashi points are also called trigger points, and in most instances correspond with actual acupuncture points.
Acupuncture Injection Treatment involves locating these painful points and injecting them with a choice of B vitamins and/or procaine. The B vitamins are a key player in cellular growth and reproduction, the formation of blood and proteins, and in tissue repair. Procaine is a local anesthetic. AIT locates and treats painful points on your body, but it also relies on the diagnostic and therapeutic principles of Chinese medicine. Prior to any treatment, your practitioner will talk to you about your health history and the history of your current symptoms. They will develop a treatment strategy that may combine other healing tools with your injection treatments to address any systemic imbalances you may be experiencing, in addition to treating the source of your pain.
Vitamin Injections
Despite eating as well as you can, you may not be getting all the vitamins that you need for optimal health. It’s difficult to get the vitamins necessary through food alone, and your digestion may also be working against you. For that reason, vitamin injections may be helpful to you in a number of ways.
MIC injections are a combination of methionine, inositol, and choline. These substances are found naturally in your body are considered to be lipotropic, in that they help your body metabolize fats and support liver health. Combined with a healthy weight loss plan, MIC injections can be an important nutritional support for patients who are trying to lose weight.
Vitamin B injections may be combined with MIC or may be used on their own. The eight B vitamins are called the Vitamin B complex, and your body needs small amounts of each of these vitamins regularly. The B vitamins can be injected as a complex or separately such as B12 or methylcobalamin. The B vitamins help your body transform food into energy and help to regulate your appetite.
Naturopathic Injections
The naturopathic doctors at BodaHealth are able to assess your nutritional status, digestion, heavy metal toxicity, and your overall health. They are also able to order lab tests and prescribe medications when necessary.
Our naturopaths offer injection therapy, such as MIC and B vitamin injections. However they can also provide additional injection treatments, such as vitamin therapy for nutritional deficiencies or imbalances, and supplements or homeopathic blends for cold or flu symptoms, or injections to enhance your immunity.
At BodaHealth, we believe that injection therapies are an essential component of our health services. They can be an effective treatment for a number of health issues. If you want to know more about how injection treatments can help you, give us a call.
