If you’re experiencing infertility you know that it’s not only physically exhausting, but it can also be mentally stressful and traumatic. And chances are you’d do anything to improve your likelihood for success. At BodaHealth, we get that. Our focus is on women’s health and reproductive medicine. Our nurturing environment and knowledgeable practitioners provide you with quality care, guidance, and support on your fertility journey.
We provide acupuncture for fertility with personalized care for you—individually and as a couple. Acupuncture is a safe and effective form of treatment that uses fine needles on specific points on your body to increase blood flow, relax your nervous system, balance hormones, reduce stress, and improve sperm quality. BodaHealth’s practitioners work with you to develop a treatment plan for preconception, conception, pregnancy, and postpartum care. That plan is based on your unique needs and is modified at each stage of your journey.
Many women are turning to acupuncture to enhance their fertility, and research suggests that this is a good idea. Scientists have found that acupuncture can increase blood flow to your uterus, regulate your menstrual cycles, promote ovulation, and stabilize your hormones. In addition, research has shown that regular acupuncture treatments can increase the success of clinical pregnancy.
Whether you’re planning to conceive naturally or with the help of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), such as In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET), Intrauterine insemination (IUI), Donor Insemination (DI) or Donor Egg we will begin with a complete history of your health and reproductive journey so far. We will develop a treatment plan to correct any imbalances with a focus on preparing your body for conception and pregnancy. In some instances, acupuncture may be used to treat other conditions prior to conception, such as PCOS, endometriosis, low ovarian reserve, weight issues, anovulation, dysmenorrhea, and irregular or absent menstrual cycles.

Cold Laser Therapy
We’re excited to be able to add cold laser as a therapy to help both women and men who are experiencing infertility. Cold laser therapy uses low-intensity light to gently produce changes deep within your body’s tissues, at the cellular level. Cold laser therapy is safe, gentle and painless.
Scientists have found that the use of cold laser therapy can be a valuable strategy for women who are undergoing assisted reproductive technologies. In one study of 1,000 women, researchers discovered that implantation success rates increased by as much as 15% in women who had cold laser treatments before and after embryo transfer.
But that’s not all. Because cold laser therapy works deeply to promote cell growth and rebalance the chemical processes that are critical to tissue healing, cold laser therapy can be an effective treatment in other conditions that may affect your fertility including:
- Improving egg quality in severely infertile women and those in their later childbearing years.
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
- Male infertility, as it helps improve sperm quality and motility
In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
Becoming pregnant with Assisted Reproductive Technology can be draining physically, emotionally, and financially, and we understand that you want to do everything you can to increase your chance of conception. Research has found that an acupuncture treatment on the day of embryo transfer improves pregnancy and live birth rates.
At BodaHealth, our plan for you provides regular acupuncture treatments:
- During the weeks leading up to your embryo transfer
- On the day of embryo transfer (both pre-and post-transfer treatments)
- During implantation (3-7 days post-transfer)
- To support your pregnancy
The goal of acupuncture during these times is to:
- Increase blood flow to your uterus
- Minimize the negative side effects of fertility medications
- Enhance implantation thereby increasing pregnancy rates
- Reduce stress and anxiety, increasing your potential for carrying to term
- Increase the comfort of your IVF procedures
Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) and Donor Insemination (DI)
To increase positive IUI and DI outcomes, acupuncture sessions are recommended prior to insemination to prepare your body for conception. The focus of acupuncture is to:
- Promote ovulation
- Increase blood flow to your uterus
- Help reduce stress
- Reduce nausea and cramping post-procedure
Acupuncture for Male Fertility
Sperm and semen quality can be a factor in up to half of all fertility issues. While the cause of male fertility problems are often unknown, researchers have found that acupuncture can help. Sperm motility, fertilization rate, and embryo quality were improved in assisted reproductive treatments when the male partner underwent acupuncture. Acupuncture can increase sperm morphology—the size and shape of sperm, as well as:
- Increase erectile function and sex drive
- Treat prostate problems
- Decrease pelvic pain
